SSLC results on May 13

T’PURAM: Education Minister M.A. Baby has said that the SSLC results will be published on May 13.

The results of Vocational Higher Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations will be published on May 15. Baby was speaking at the meeting with the representatives of various organisations of school teachers on Tuesday.

The meeting decided to redeploy protected teachers in those vacancies arising in the Education Department only. When the meeting started, the teachers’ organisations affiliated to the ruling parties and the Opposition parties engaged in a heated exchange of words over the issue of protected teachers. This disrupted the meeting for sometime.

Teachers’ organisations affiliated to the Opposition parties wanted the Government to discuss the issues relating to the redeployment and KER reforms in the agenda. This was opposed by the organisations affiliated to ruling parties.

The issue was settled following the assurance given by the Education Minister that any decision on the redeployment of protected teachers to other departments would be taken only after discussing the matter with all concerned.

The Minister said that the report of the KER Reforms Committee will be implemented only after discussing the issue in the LDF. After the report is discussed in the LDF, it will be discussed in the Cabinet and with teachers’ organisations. Another decision of the meeting was to avoid teachers’ training programmes on Saturdays that are sixth working days as far as possible. A decision on the issue will be taken at the QIP committee meeting of the General Education Department.

The government would also take a decision on creating new posts in schools after discussions with Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac.

Steps will be taken to fill the vacancies of principals in Government higher secondary schools. The meeting decided to take a decision on grade, promotion and increment for higher secondary teachers.
