CET RESULTS WITHIN A WEEK
Counselling from June 2
Bangalore,(DM)- The Director of Karnataka Examination Authority and Commissioner of the Department of Pre-University Education, S.G. Hegde, said here on Saturday that the CET results-2008 would be announced within a week.
A deadline of one week has been set for the announcement of results of 12th standard CBSE and ICSE exams. If the respective Central Boards do not announce the results by then, the Authority will go ahead with announcement of CET results, he said.
He was speaking at the "CET-COMED-K counselling guidance" organised at Teachers Bhavan here.
"The CET results are ready to be announced. The announcement of results is getting delayed because the Central Boards are yet to declare their 12th standard results," he added.
Counselling
"As already scheduled, the Authority will begin counselling room June 2. A time of at least a week has to be given to the students to prepare for the counselling," he explained.
The OMR copy of every student, who wrote the CET examination, will be published in the Authority's website. The OMR copy will be published with the intention that any discrepancy, if found in this list, can be que-stioned, he explained.
The students and their parents need not be anxious about the counselling process. Everything will go on in a transparent manner and the Authority will function in a student-friendly manner, he said.
PUC marks
Speaking on the occasion, Syed Jamaal, the Administrative Officer of the Authority, said that along with the CET results, the marks obtained by the respective students in the PU examination will also be published in the website from this year. This will help the other students to iden-tify the eligibility of students who have secured ranks, he said.
He also said that the students who appear for the counselling, should bring their SSLC marks list, PU marks list, certificate for having studied in the State for seven years, DD for the prescribed amount of fees and reservation sought, if any.
The students should obtain DD in the name of the Executive Director of the Authority. There is a provision for bringing more than one DD. If the students had obtained the DD for a higher amount than the prescribed admission fee for the course they have selected, then the balance amount will be paid at the spot through a cheque issued in the student's name, he said.
In case if the eligible student obtains DD for a lesser amount than the prescribed fee, then also the student will be allotted seat.
Difficult round
Admission will be granted only if that student pays up the prescribed fee in full before the commencement of casual round. With the exception of SC / ST students, all the students belonging to different categories, should compulsorily bring DD, he explained.
The casual round of counselling is a very difficult one. After going through two rounds, the student should be firm on the course that he is going to select in this round, he advised. (starofmysore.com)
