Violence in WWE will not affect children: Khali

MUMBAI: `The Great Khali', alias Dalip Singh Rana denied on Friday that violence in wrestling matches of World Wrestling Entertainment can have adverse impact on children.

"It won't," said Rana, adding "It is a sport like other sports...but children should not fight at home (aping WWE)."

Rana, on a two-day visit to the city, met children of Door-Step School, a school that caters to underprivileged children from slums.

When children asked how they could follow in his footsteps, Rana said: "It is an expensive sport..But I am going to request WWE to set up a school so that Indian children can train there."

"I feel proud that I brought glory to nation by my achievements in WWE in US," he said when a child asked him how he felt after his success in a foreign country.

When asked what plans he had for underprivileged children, he said he was contemplating starting a school.
"Study hard," was his advice to children. He also said that he was happy to see people here watching WWE matches despite cricket's popularity.

He evaded reply to the query whether Sachin Tendulkar had invited him to an IPL tie, and whether Shahrukh Khan had invited him to a lunch.

"Sachin is a great human being," was all he said. Himachal Pradesh-born Rana emigrated to United States in 1999 to train as a wrestler. Since 2006, he is in limelight due to his success in WWE arena.

Bollywood hunks and their bikes

Women may swear by what they wear but boys will be boys. Men's fashions can take sharp twists and turns especially when cars and bikes enter the picture.

John Abraham's love for bikes is as old as the hills but the actor had to wait till he turned 12 to ride his first bike.

He's often seen racing on Mumbai roads on bikes and sweet heart Bipasha being the indulgent girlfriend even gifted him a Suzuki Hayabusa.

"I loved this trip we had in Rampur. I had a dirt bike then," said John Abraham, actor.

John is not the only star with bike fever fellow actor Salman Khan attends film pressers to restaurant launches and even award functions on his red sports bike.

And get this Akshay Khiladi Kumar is not only adept at getting the desi boy act down to the last detail he is as passionate about sports bikes.

Mithun endorses son Mimoh

Mithun Chakraborty who used to claim that he will not promote son Mimoh in films, is apparently conscious about Mimoh’s

debut. Raj Sippy’s Jimmy is releasing and Mithun who hardly used to accompany his son on events, is making more public

appearances.

It is believed that Mithun saw Jimmy and suggested some changes to the filmmaker Raj Sippy. A unit hand says “Mithun didn’t

like some scenes and he suggested some changes. According to that filmmaker had to re-shoot those scenes, which is why the

film got delayed. Mithun gave some important inputs to director Raj Sippy who is a close friend of his.”

Mithun has always made statements regarding his son that Mimoh has to prove himself. Apparently Mithun who has always

appeared as a strict father has realized that a right film or right start is important for Mimoh’s career. Thus he is

concerned about his son’s debut film and is making conscious efforts to launch Mimoh properly.

Interestingly Mithun’s film Don Muthuswami is releasing close to the release of Mimoh’s Jimmy. Isn’t Mithun worried that he

might eat out to his son’s film’s business? When asked he replies, “As a father I am worried about him, whether his film

releases with me or with anybody else. Otherwise, it doesn't worry me a bit because he is a strong person and we both are

good. Then we have a very wide audience.”

Needless to say that being a star son Mimoh will be compared with his father. It is believed that Mithun has given Mimoh some

important tips regarding dancing and acting. Ask him who’s a better dancer and Mithun is quick to revert, “Mimoh will beat me

hollow in dancing today. He is 25% better than me but in acting he will take another 6-7 years to catch up with me. He has to

prove his own worth and compete like anybody else. Then he also has to respect everybody in the industry and not look down at

anyone at all. That will help him to grow faster as an actor and as a person too”.

Now only time can say whether Mimoh will prove himself as a good dancer and talented actor like his father or create his own

identity in Bollywood.

Jason Castro voted off 'American Idol'

On Wednesday night, Jason Castro was told his time on American Idol was over. There would be no Fox-filmed parade, party and assorted hoopla, as was the plan should he make the top three.

Jason took the news well.

He admitted that his "inexperience is coming in," especially when the show started demanding two songs from each singer. "And there are three songs next week," he added before his farewell. "I don't know what I would have done."

That leaves David Archuleta, David Cook and Syesha Mercado to duke it out for the top spot. Ryan Seacrest noted that out of 51 million votes that came in this week, the trio were separated by just a million or so each. The competition could get rough.

But not for Jason, whose laid-back honesty endeared him to fans known as Dreadheads. Before Ryan Seacrest revealed the results, he reminded the crowd what the judges had said of Jason's two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame songs, "I Shot the Sheriff" and "Mr. Tambourine Man."

"Somebody told me that I shot the tambourine man," Jason said with a giggle. "I thought that was pretty funny."

And when Ryan noted that Simon Cowell had told him to pack his bags, he replied, "I did."

Jason's apparent relief about his fate gives credence to rumors that the guy was actually ready to leave, thank you very much. Still, that doesn't mean he didn't appreciate the experience.

"Dreams do come true," he said in his swan-song montage, "so dream big."

American Idol 2008

'American Idol' Result: Jason Castro Goes Home

American Idol voters agreed with Simon Cowell that it was time for Jason Castro to pack his bags, sending the laid-back troubadour home on this week’s results show. After a difficult few weeks, Jason had continued to struggle during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-themed show on Tuesday. His rendition of ''I Shot the Sheriff'' and his botched lyrics to ''Mr. Tambourine Man'' were not well received by the judges.

Syesha Mercado, who conversely seems to have hit her stride the past few weeks, was in the bottom two with Jason but ultimately made it to the safety couches with the Davids (Cook and Archuleta).

The Wednesday-night show also featured performances of “If I Never See Your Face Again,” by Maroon 5, and of “Witness,” by season 4 runner-up Bo Bice.
