Experience the coolest outdoor music series in the heart of Hendricks County! The Downtown Danville Partnership is presenting the 2008 Downtown Danville Summer Sounds on the Square.
The Partnership has joined with local business owner Chuck Watts with the Royal Theater Concert Series to bring a new event to the area in an effort to create multiple signature events for the town as recommended by the June 2007 HyettPalma study.
The concert series kicks-off with live music performed by Eilen Jewell on June 21st. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. and the show gets underway at 8:30 p.m., on the south side of the Courthouse Square. There is a $5 admission for ages 21 & over that will be used to support Downtown Danville improvement projects. There is a limited amount of seats available so it is suggested to bring your own chair. The series will be held on the third Saturday of every month through September. Upcoming bands include Margot and the Nuclear So & So's July 19th, The Bittersweets will perform August 16th and the final Summer Sounds on the Square for 2008 will be the Birch Creek Bluegrass Band on September 20th. This Series is brought to you by Hendricks Regional Health, The Flyer Group, Hendricks Power Cooperative, Co-Alliance Energy & Agribusiness Solutions, and Duke Energy.
"We are excited to announce this great opportunity for residents and visitors of Danville and Hendricks County," said Amanda Jensen, Chairman of the Downtown Danville Partnership. "We really believe these events will help to enhance our Downtown area and bring to our community an opportunity to gather with friends and neighbors," she said.
The Downtown Danville Partnership works to develop, promote and sustain Danville's historic courthouse square as "Hendricks County's downtown," the county's gathering place and its retail, civic, entertainment and government center. The Partnership works to make downtown enhancements a priority for the community, harnessing the strengths and talents of relevant organizations and individuals and promoting collaboration and enthusiasm among all sectors who work on and in downtown.
