Bulgaria Education Min Reports on Final Matriculation Results

Bulgaria's Education Ministry gave Wednesday its report on the final results of the first State high school exit exams.

"Students from the American college have achieved the best results at the matriculations, especially at that in Bulgarian language and literature," Minister Daniel Valchev announced.

"Sofia's 73th High school, the German language High school, the Italian Lyceum and schools from Pazardzhik, Burgas, Plovdiv, Varna and Lovech are also among the institutions, which have provided extremely good preparation for the exams to their students," he added.

The total number of high school graduates who took the first exit exam was 72 532.

The highest exam results by subject area are for French Language, the lowest for Philosophy and History with the maximum point total being 100.

The failing grades for the mandatory Bulgarian Language and Literature exit exam are 2721 while the "excellent" (A) grades total 12 000, with 891 of them being 100% "A" grades. The most widespread grade for Bulgarian Language and Literature is the "good" (C), which has been received by over 24000 graduates.

A total of 38 graduates did not manage to receive a point at the matriculations. More than 1,000 students received poor marks at two exam tests.
