Miley Cyrus Extends Herself

Back in California following a promotional trip to New York City, Miley Cyrus spent six hours getting her hair done up at the Juan Juan hair salon in Beverly Hills on Saturday (July 26).

According to a source on the scene, the Hannah Montana starlet, who was accompanied by her mother Tish, got brand new hair extensions before the mother/daughter duo enjoyed some retail therapy at the nearby shops.

In related news, Miss Cyrus recently spoke to press about her inability to find a boyfriend - which she says is in part a result of the media linking her to so many guys whom she’s not even dating.

“It is hard when you’’re hanging out with guys they are automatically your boyfriend, that’s what the media thinks,” Miley told, going on the plead for those in the industry to stop messing up her chances of finding Mr Right.

Britney Spears: Hard at Work on New Album

It seems that Britney Spears’ summer is going to be filled with more than rest and relaxation… as her manager, Larry Rudolph, made a big career announcement on Tuesday - telling that the “Gimme More” pop star is hard at work on her yet-to-be-titled new album.

“Britney Spears is spending her summer in the recording studio, working on a brand new album,” Rudolph announced in a statement released by Jive Records. “She’s working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters, and we’re very excited about what she’s accomplished so far. No album release date has been confirmed yet.”

There were many rumors during the spring that Spears might be working on a new album because she had been spending time in the studio. But at the time, Rudolph insisted that it was “recreational.” But Rudolph said there was a reason behind the playtime, telling: “She’s the type of person who has the eye of the tiger.”

“She’s like, ‘I want to go to the studio because I want to have some fun’ and that’s what it’s all about. There’s no schedule, there’s no agenda, there’s no anything. She is just enjoying herself. She’ll likely wake up one day and decide she wants to do more than that. Whether that is a day from now, a month from now or a year from now or five years from now, I have no idea,” he added.

After spending a difficult year in the spotlight with two very well publicized trips to the hospital and an ongoing custody battle with her ex husband Kevin Federline, Rudolph said that Spears is feeling strong and back to her old self again. Last week, Brit filmed a video segment in Hollywood that’s expected to be part of Madonna’s upcoming Sticky & Sweet tour.

“She’s got people around her that really care about her and are there to point her in the right direction in respect to the things she should be concentrating on – her life. Britney is getting back in touch with Britney,” Rudolph said. “And she’s doing an amazing job at that.”

Details about Michael J. Fox’s news have been inferred from varied sources. According to John Solberg, FX’s spokesman, forty seven year old actor is going to portray the paralyzed boyfriend of the ex-wife of the main character, New York City firefighter Tommy Gavin. Tommy’s character is played by Denis Leary.

Canadian-born Michael J. Fox has signed on to appear in four episodes of the upcoming fifth season, starting with a premiere episode in the spring.

"It's terrific news, he's a phenomenal actor." "He and Denis have been friends for a long time and it's a great fit and should be very funny as well," added Solberg.

Josephine Baker: Honored with stamp

Josephine Baker: Honored with stamp

The US Postal Service (USPS) has taken the decision to honor Josephine Baker, the famous chanteuse from African-America, with a stamp of her own. News was revealed on Wednesday. Last year USPS has lost a legal battle after it refused to mail postcards with a topless image of Baker.

Reporters have thrown more light on this news on Josephine Baker. Her image is part of a commemorative series of US postage stamps that has honored classic black cinema. As per schedule the stamp will be unveiled at a ceremony in Newark, New Jersey on Wednesday.

The stamp reproduces a poster from the French film "Princess Tam-Tam" that was released in the year 1935. It featured this sultry star with her bosom covered.

They serve as "invaluable pieces of history, preserving memories of cultural phenomena that otherwise might have been forgotten," added Delores Killette, Vice President of USPS in a statement on Tuesday.

"My adoptive mother, whose theme song was Two loves Have I, my Country and Paris,' would be delighted, thrilled and deeply moved by this wonderful tribute to African-American culture," Baker's adopted son Jean-Claude Baker said in the statement.

After a protracted but eventually triumphant free-speech battle supported by the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU), son of Josephine Baker was given the permission in May 2007 to mail as many as fifteen thousand postcards to patrons of "Chez Josephine." It is the name of his restaurant in New York that he has started almost twenty two years ago in honor of his adopted mother.

"My adoptive mother, whose theme song was Two loves Have I, my Country and Paris,' would be delighted, thrilled and deeply moved by this wonderful tribute to African-American culture." This is the comment of Baker's adopted son Jean-Claude Baker.

The USPS had refused to accept and mail the cards, which portrayed a 1926 watercolor painting by Henry Fournier thereby depicting Baker as a topless Follies-Bergere dancer, as "pornographic" item. NYCLU has made this complain.

But the Baker son remained unperturbed. Eventually he earned his right to send the cards and an apology from the USPS.

While interviewing the reporters of a popular news agency Josephine Baker’s son said , "If it had been a photo of Josephine, a black and white photo, there would not have been a case, but it was a work of art, by an artist, and I knew that I had a legal right (to send it by mail) in the United States."

Josephine Baker was born in the year 1906 in St. Louis, Missouri, where she faced discrimination. Even in theaters she was humiliated as blacks were barred from sitting in the same areas as whites.

After achieving fame in Europe she time and again returned to the United States to support the civil rights movement, and also has joined the Reverend Martin Luther King at the milestone 1963 march on Washington.

Delta Goodrem: Looks for American stardom

Australian pop star and soap actress Delta Goodrem, who is already famous in Australia, is now trying to become successful in America.

While many stars have failed to match their international success in the United States, the 23 year old Delta Goodrem has released her U.S. debut album "Delta" on Tuesday.

She is following the footsteps of her role model and fellow Australian Olivia Newton-John.

Delta Goodrem said in an interview, "Olivia's been an incredible guiding light with me. She's always given me really great advice. She's beautiful and we have a beautiful friendship".

Her latest album, Delta, has scored only a handful of US reviews, but she has found a friend in celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, who said that her first single "In This Life" was "deelish".

Billboard's Chuck Taylor wrote: "With successes from Leona Lewis, Katy Perry and Natasha Bedingfield proving that the public hungers for quality female pop, timing is a bull's-eye for Goodrem's deliciously tasteful U.S. bid".

Delta Goodrem has performed a duet "Right Here With You" with Newton-John at Los Angeles Gay Pride celebrations in June.

"Delta" is her third studio album and U.S. debut. It was released in Australia last year, hitting No. 1. She described the album as having a "theme of letting go, of moving forward, of believing again in this life".

Delta Goodrem's fiance Brian McFadden, who is an Irish singer has also wrote half of the songs on "Delta".

Mel Gibson: Exempted from editor's complaint

Mel Gibson: Exempted from editor's complaint

Actor Mel Gibson has got time to relax and enjoy. The scribe suing Mel Gibson for deception over a ‘royalty dispute’ that is associated with ‘The Passion of the Christ’ has issued an amended lawsuit on Monday. Such a step was taken after it was found that the original complaint "lacked specificity" and was taking a "chain letter" approach.

Details about Mel Gibson’s news have been gathered from quite a number of sources. According to them, Benedict Fitzgerald, who along with Mel Gibson has written down the Passion screenplay, files a suit against the filmmaker in the month of February for $10 million. He claimed that he was more or less forced to accept less than normal fees for working on the script. He did so when Mel Gibson told him that the film’s budget was very small and that Mel himself would not be taking any proceeds until he would remuneration for the crew members.

However the film made a profit of 600 million dollars worldwide.

In self defense the lawyers of Mel Gibson is trying hard to nullify six of the nine allegations leveled at him from Fitzgerald's suit.

According to the ruling of judge in the month of May all the financial records pertaining to the Passion's budget and box office will be kept secret. It would be made available only to each side's counsel.

SpiceJet gets Rs 340-cr Ross funding

The US private equity fund house's investment, however, will not trigger an open offer

The board of directors of budget carrier SpiceJet has accepted US-based firm WL Ross' offer to infuse $80 million (Rs 340 crore) in tranches in the cash-strapped airline. The funding was needed by the carrier to stay afloat and fulfill aircraft acquisition commitments. SpiceJet had been looking for a $100 million funding for a while now.

The deal was brokered by Rothschild, the second biggest deal in the Indian aviation space after Air Deccan's acquisition by Kingfisher last year. However, the exact structure of the funding is not made known.

"The deal closing will take another two weeks or so and only after that will the details be made known. But all the regulatory requirements and foreign direct investment guidelines have been met in the structuring of the deal," Amitabh Malhotra, director, Rothschild, said.

There is a cap of 49 per cent for foreign investors in the aviation sector. The deal has been structured in such a way that it will not trigger a open offer, which is mandatory if the stake bought is over 15 per cent in a listed company.

WL Ross, which picks up distressed companies and turns them around, is likely to buy foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCBs) that Goldman Sachs and Dubai-based investor Istithmar, SpiceJet's shareholders, have in an escrow account. The bonds were issued in December 2005. Sources said that it was unlikely that any of the large shareholders in the company would lose any stake.

What swung the deal in favour of Ross, according to bankers close to the deal, was the commitment to the low-cost model.

"Though the external environment is the biggest villain in aviation right now, SpiceJet is one of the most efficiently run airline and is a value proposition. Here is the chance to prove oneself and this gives the fund the exact opportunity to do so," Malhotra said. It is not clear as to how long Ross will stay invested in SpiceJet. , though there are indications that the firm might seek to exit when things brighten up for the sector.

"As a result of this funding, the airline has adequate funding for the short and medium terms and as far as the investors are concerned, there is no preferential lock-in period of one year," said a banker close to the deal.

In a move to consolidate the board, Wilbur Ross, chairman and CEO, WL Ross and Ranjeet Nabha, the company's managing director in India, are expected to join the SpiceJet board of directors, said a company release.

WL Ross, a part of Invesco since October 2006, manages assets for institutional investors in the US, Europe and Asia. This is Ross's second investment in India. Ross acquired suit maker OCM India for $37 million in February 2007.

According to figures from the civil aviation ministry for June, SpiceJet is the second-largest low-cost carrier in India after Simplifly Deccan with a market share of 10.8 per cent. The carrier operates 94 flights a day with its 15-aircraft fleet.

Sania Mirza and Shahid Kapoor in Love All?

Shahid Kapoor has been linked to many lovely ladies ever since he broke up with Kareena Kapoor and his latest romantic tangle is with tennis sensation Sania Mirza.

While some sections of the press were busy delving into a Shahid –Vidya Balan angle, Shahid and Sania were enjoying time together. Recently, Sania and Shahid decided not to bother about gossip-mongers, and spent nearly eight hours together on the sets of director Vishal Bharadwaj’s Kaminay, which also stars Priyanka Chopra and Amol Gupte.

Says a source from the sets of Kaminay, “It was a 7 am shift. Sania and Shahid did not come together, but once Sania dropped by, Shahid and Sania were almost inseparable. What was surprising was that they were very open about their relationship. Their body language said it all. When Shahid was not facing the camera, he spent all his time with Sania. Sania spent a lot of time with Shahid in his vanity van.”

Apparently Sania was cheering Shahid in all the scenes and checking out the scenes on the monitor. The Shahid- Sania romance first came into light when the two spent some time together in a hotel in Bangalore, last year. Thereafter they have been spotted together many times

Sharon Stone Detailed Biography

Born on March 10th, 1958 in Meadville, Pennsylvania, Sharon Stone was still in school when she started acting. After college Sharon began a modeling career and was signed to represent Clairol, Diet Coke, and Revlon. Her modeling allowed her acting career to blossom, and she has appeared in such films as Total Recall, Basic Instinct, Sliver, Casino, Sphere, and The Muse.

This former beauty pageant contestant and Ford model made her film debut with a non-speaking part as a beautiful woman fleetingly glimpsed from a moving train in Woody Allen's Stardust Memories (1980), and thereafter clawed her way to a stardom that has brought back an old-fashioned, high-octane glamour to the role of ''movie star.'' Sharon, who grew up a bookworm in a large family in Northwest Pennsylvania, worked her way up from McDonald's counter-girl to successful Ford model (both in print ads and TV commercials) by the late 1970s.

Through the 1980s, Sharon appeared as a stereotypical blonde in mostly forgettable roles: in Wes Craven's Deadly Blessing (1981); as a down-and-out waitress turned petulant movie star in Irreconcilable Differences (1984); an archaeologist's daughter in King Solomon's Mines (1985) and its sequel, Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold (1987). Other unmemorable early credits include Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol (1987), Action Jackson (1988) and the umpteenth remake of Blood and Sand (1989).

Sharon also struggled in TV, beginning with a tiny part in ''Not Just Another Affair'' (CBS, 1982), the short-lived series Bay City Blues (NBC, 1983) and gradually bigger (though not better) roles in the TV movies ''Calendar Girl Murders'' (ABC, 1984), ''The Vegas Strip War'' (NBC, 1984), the failed cop-show pilot ''Hollywood Starr'' (ABC, 1985), ''Mr. and Mrs. Ryan'' (ABC, 1986), ''Badlands 2005'' (ABC, 1988) and ''Tears in the Rain'' (Showtime, 1988). Probably her only TV success was a supporting role as Robert Mitchum's daughter-in-law in the epic miniseries War and Remembrance (ABC, 1988-89).

Sharon's first real break was playing Arnold Schwarzenegger's kick-boxing, secret agent ''wife'' in Paul Verhoeven's sci-fi actioner Total Recall (1990). After five more forgettable thrillers and comedies, she finally achieved the proverbial ''overnight'' stardom as a sexually voracious crime writer opposite Michael Douglas in Verhoeven's controversial and popular erotic thriller, Basic Instinct (1992). Her pantieless leg-crossing scene brought Sharon much-needed notoriety, but has haunted her ever since.

In a more conventionally sympathetic role, Sharon followed up with another sizzling sex melodrama, Sliver (1993), which did middling business stateside but proved a solid success overseas. Trying to escape the sex-bomb trap, she begged for the frigid wife role in Intersection (1994), which met with limited success. She again flexed her international box-office clout paired with Sylvester Stallone in the explosive actioner The Specialist (1994) but fared much less well commercially with her next project, The Quick and the Dead (1995), which marked her producing debut. Sharon looked terrific in Western duds playing something of a distaff version of a Clint Eastwood-like gunfighter. Her directorial choice, Sam Raimi, helmed the smartly derivative tale with style to spare but the critical reception was uneven and the public stayed away. She rebounded with her widely acclaimed performance as Ginger, the Vegas hustler who wins the heart of Robert De Niro, in Martin Scorsese's Casino (also 1995), a film that earned her a long sought-after Academy Award nomination.

The highly-paid, much-in-demand star (she has her own production company, Chaos, and has signed a first-look deal with Miramax) next filmed a remake of the Henri-Georges Clouzot's noir classic Diabolique with Isabelle Adjani and Chazz Palmentieri and played a death-row inmate whose lawyer (Rob Morrow) works to save her from execution in Last Dance (both 1996).

Sharon, a diva who thoroughly enjoys her hard-won stardom, is a clever manipulator of her public imageon heavy press days, she reportedly changes outfits between each interview and photo session, a practice unheard of since the days of Joan Crawford and Norma Shearer. She lives, fittingly enough, in a gated French chateau in Beverly Hills.

Nelson Mandela Detailed Biography

Nelson Mandela is a former President of South Africa, the first to be elected in fully representative democratic elections. Before his presidency, Mandela was an anti-apartheid activist and also a leader of the African National Congress and its armed wing is called Umkhonto we Sizwe. Nelson spent nearly 27 years in prison, much of it on Robben Island, on convictions for crimes that included sabotage committed while spearheading the struggle against apartheid.

Amongst the opponents of apartheid in South Africa and also worldwide Mandela became a symbol of freedom and equality, while the apartheid government and nations sympathetic to it hated him and his ANC as communists and terrorists.

After his release from prison in February 11, 1990, his switch to a policy of reconciliation and negotiation helped brought about a transition in the multi-racial democracy system of South Africa. Since the end of apartheid, he has been widely praised, even by former opponents.

Nelson Mandela has got over 100 awards in the time span of four decades, most important being the Nobel Peace Prize of the year 1993. He is currently a celebrated elder statesman who continues to voice his opinion on topical issues. In South Africa he is often known as Madiba, an honorary title adopted by elders of Mandela's clan. The title has come to be synonymous with Nelson Mandela.

For Mandela Mahatma Gandhi became a major source of inspiration in his life, both for the philosophy of non-violence and for facing hardship with self-respect.

Early life of Mandela is quite significant. Belonging to a cadet branch of the Thembu dynasty that ,nominally, rules over in the Transkeian Territories of the Union of South Africa's Cape Province. Mandela was born in the small village of Mvezo in the district of Umtata, the Transkei capital.

Etymologically his name Rolihlahla means "to pull a branch of a tree", that in colloquial language signifies "troublemaker".

So far as the education of Mandela is concerned, at seven years of age, Rolihlahla Mandela became the first member of his family to have attended a school, where he was given the name "Nelson. " After the death of his father Mandela attended a Wesleyan mission school . Following the Thembu custom, Mandela was initiated at an age of 16 and took admission at Clarkebury Boarding Institute. Interestingly he completed his Junior Certificate in two years, instead of the normal course of three years. Destined to inherit his father's position as a privy councillor, in the year 1937 Mandela got shifted to Healdtown, the Wesleyan college in Fort Beaufort which most of Thembu royalty used to attend.

After passing matriculating, he studied B.A. at the Fort Hare University. There he met Oliver Tambo, and the two became lifelong friends and colleagues. He also became close with his kinsman, Kaiser ("K.D.") Matanzima . At the end of first year, Nelson took part in a boycott movement led by the Students' Representative Council against the university policies. Even he was being asked to leave Fort Hare. Later during imprisonment Mandela studied Bachelor of Laws from the University of London External Program.

Shortly after leaving Fort Hare, when Jongintaba fixed marriages for both of them, being utterly displeased, decided to flee the comforts of the Regent's estate and went to Johannesburg.

Political career of Mandela has seen lots of ups and downs. After 1948 election victory of the Afrikaner-dominated National Party with its apartheid policy of racial segregation, Nelson became a leading figure in the ANC's 1952 Defiance Campaign . He also became an intergral part of 1955 Congress of the People, whose espousal of the Freedom Charter initiated the fundamental program of the cause of anti-apartheids. Meanwhile Nelson Mandela and his fellow lawyer Oliver Tambo operated the law firm of Mandela and Tambo, with the purpose of providing free or low-cost legal counsel to many blacks who would otherwise would be deprived of being given representation.

Initially committed to non-violent mass struggle, along with one hundred and fifty people Mandela was arrested on 5 December 1956 on charge of treason. The marathon Treason Trial of 195661 followed, and all were acquitted. From years 195259 the ANC witnessed a break as a new class of Black activists (Africanists) who have thronged the towns with the demand of initiating more drastic steps against the National Party regime. The ANC leadership of Albert Luthuli, Oliver Tambo and Walter Sisulu not only realized that events were moving too fast, but also that their leadership was being challenged. They consequently strengthened their position by establishing alliances with small White, Coloured and Indian political parties in an attempt to appear to have a wider appeal than the Africanists. 1955's Freedom Charter Kliptown Conference was ridiculed by the Africanists for allowing the 100,000 strong ANC to be relegated to a single vote in a Congress alliance, in which four secretaries-general of the five participating parties were members of the secretly reconstituted South African Communist Party (SACP), strongly adhering to the Moscow line.

In the year 1959 the ANC lost its most militant support when most of the Africanists, with the monetary support from Ghana and important political support from the Transvaal-based Basotho, broke away to form the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) under Robert Sobukwe and Potlako Leballo.

In the year 1961, Mandela became the leader of the ANC's armed wing, Umkhonto we Sizwe .He was also its co-founder. He coordinated a sabotage campaign against military and government targets, and made plans for a possible guerrilla war in case sabotage failed to end apartheid. A few decades later, MK launched a guerrilla war against the regime, especially during the 1980s, in which many civilians were killed. Mandela also raised funds for MK abroad, and arranged for paramilitary training, and also visited several African governments.

On 5 August 1962 Nelson Mandela was arrested and put to jail in the Johannesburg Fort. The arrest was made possible because the CIA tipped off the security police as to Mandela's whereabouts and disguise. After three days of his imprisonment , Mandela came to know about the charges that were brought against him viz the charges of leading workers to strike in the year 1961 and leaving the country illegally were read to him during a court appearance. On 25 October 1962, Nelson Mandela was sentenced to 5 years in prison. Two years later on 11 June 1964, a verdict was brought out concerning his previous engagement in the African National Congress (ANC).

Being imprisoned on Robben Island for the next eighteen of his twenty-seven years in prison, he and others performed hard labour in a lime quarry.

On 2 February 1990, State President F.W. de Klerk reversed the ban on the ANC and other anti-apartheid organisations, and announced that Mandela would shortly be released from prison. At last the long awaited release came .On 11 February 1990 Mandela was freed from Victor Verster Prison in Paarl . Following his release from prison, Mandela returned to the leadership of the ANC and, between 1990 and 1994, led the party in the multi-party negotiations that led to the country's first multi-racial elections.

Mandela's zeal to fight for peace and democracy continued after his release. In the year 1991, the ANC held its first national conference in South Africa after its unbanning, and also elected Mandela as President of the organisation. Oliver Tambo, who had led the organisation in exile during Mandela's imprisonment, became National Chairperson.

April 1994 was the lamdmark in the annuls of African history. South Africa's first democratic elections with grant of full enfranchisement was held on 27 April 1994. The ANC won sixty two percent of votes and Mandela was being the leader of the ANC, was inaugurated as the country's first black President on 10 May 1994 .

Since his president ship from May 1994 until June 1999, Mandela presided over the transition from minority rule and apartheid, winning international respect for his promoting national and international reconciliation.

Nelson Mandela was the oldest elected President of South Africa after taking office at the age of 77 in the year 1994. However he has taken the decision not to stand for a second term as President, and took retirement in the year 1999.

Kylie Minogue Detailed Biography

During her early years Kylie was influenced by taking piano, tap and jazz lesson's. Early musical influences were ''The Beatles'', ''The Rolling Stones'' and ''Abba''. Even though Kylie was quite a shy child her mother had already decided they(both sister's)would not follow her footsteps and become dancers.''I was never very keen on them taking up dancing becauseit's such a hard life''.It was when Kylie turned 11 that her debut part inAustralian television show ''The Sullivans'' began to pave an incredible rise to fame within the Australian television industry.Kylie always balanced her studies with her acting career and it was after she passed her HSc that Kylie decided she was going to give acting a go...Naturally though the schoolgirl Kylie and the child star made it difficult for Kylie and her friends to adjust to the rising fame. In February 1986, Kylie auditioned and got the part of feisty, fiery girl next door mechanic Charlene Mitchell in the reletively new soap, ''Neighbours''. A deluge of fanmail and rising viewing figures saw them extend the 12 week contract and ''Charlene'' with on and off screen love ''Scott Robinson''(played by JasonDonovan) took the show to the number one ratings spot in Australia and the United Kingdom. A record 23.8 million witnessed there marriage and this for a daytime soap!! the frenzy caused by neighbours was also casuing kids to bunk off schools and take televisions with them just to keep up with the show. Looking back only Russell Crowe(Gladiator) and Guy Pearce(L.A.Confidential) have also found fame. It was no surprise that Kylie went on to win 5 logies(television awards) including Most Popular Television Actress the same year. In 1987 Kylie performed with the cast for a charity function and an opportunity arose to sing a solo of Little Eva's sixties smash ''The Locomotion''. The reception was crazy and Kylie was swept into the studio to record and release the song within days. The single was released and went to number one in Australia for 7 weeks during 1987. Kylie decided that this was a direction that was now calling her, so in 1988 when Kylie finished filming her last Neighbours scenes, she flew to England to meet with reknowned producers Stock, Aitken+ Waterman.

Immediately the potential was seen in kylie and she was signed for a 5 year four album deal including a Greatest Hits.Pete Waterman states, ''She has a great voice.I love working with her because she has a terrific sense of humour, a fabulous personality and she knows how to really sell a song.'' Kylie's first release musically in the UK was to be a newly penned song, ''I Should Be So Lucky'', it climbed the charts slowly to reach No.1 and it stayed there for 5 weeks, selling over 800,000 copies and the album, ''Kylie'' went 7x platinum with sales of over 1.85 million. her string of hits and her record over the next five years has placed Kylie in the Guiness Book Of Records and within Music history forever. ''The Locomotion'' incidentally peaked at No.3 in the USA with sales of 500,000, but Europe too was loving every minute. The first four singles went No.1 in Finland (a record) and the album ''Kylie'' went on to sell over 7.3 million worldwide. This was one of the most successful starts to a pop career ever. In 1989 a second album was released, ''Enjoy Yourself'' and Kylie decided that she was missing her acting and the lifestyle that entailed so she began lookign for a dceent Australian script, Kylie wanted a small film to try and find her feet in the movie world. the problem was/is Kylie is such a huge star within the music scene the media were on the case and made her acting debut asuccess but also a carefully watched baptism. The character ''Lola'' in the ''The Delinquents'' with Charlie Schlatter told the stroy of a young girl growing up in the 50's. It was soon a No.1 box office smash in both the UK and AUS, mostly thanks to Kylie's growing number of supporter's. No rest period though and ylie was intent on moving her musical career forward, some call it a huge leap as the bubblegum pop turned into bubblegum classics as her third album ''Rhythm Of Love'' spawned the golden quartet of singles, Step Back n Time, Shocked, What Do I Have To Do? and Better The Devil You Know. This album handed the opportunity to work with Stephen Bray(Madonna) and also begin to write her own songs, the new sexier look was also inpired from a relationship with late rock legendMichael Hutchence of INXS.Never before had a teenager been watched and written about so much, Kylie was beginning to see her health suffer and also her family life become non existent as life on the road away from Australia was taking it's toll on the 21 year old star. ''Let's Get To It'' her fourth album was opportunity for Kylie to stage her second world tour and close off her deal with S/A/W paving the future for, what us fans remember was a very uncertain time in the life and career of Kylie Minogue....September 24th 1994, ''Kylie Minogue'' was released, the huge successful single ''Confide In Me'' helped it to debut at No.4. Confide meanwhile was being hailed as one of the coolest songs of the year.At home Kylie enjoyed a 5 week reign at No.1...The critics and the press ate humble pie. Streetfighter although not critically acclaimed was still a box office smash taking over $100 statesside. It was in 1994 that Kylie's army of gay fans began to emerge and lift her up to an iconic Queen of Pop, she was cool, camp and kitcsh, in just three minutes bursts her videos could stun a room to silence, her beauty equalled only by Rita Hayworth or Bette Davis.Kylie was moving away from appearences on Smash Hits and would now be seen on ''The Face'', ''Q'' and ''NME'', everyone was suddenly interested in Deconstructing the 1994 Kylie.Life after Michael Hutchence was proving somewhat difficult for her and I think she began to lose a little of the motivation which kept her nonstop lifestyle on full speed. After a relativley successful album Kylie was conscious that music was again moving and changing, she went home to Melbourne after filming Bio-Dome(another bad movie) and it was clear that the direction and the inspiration had all but disappeared after years of demanding workloads and press commitments. It was vital that somehow someone had to walk into her life and inject some sense of achievement and credibility.
Finally in 1995 Kylie met Nick Cave, he became the ''someone'' that lifted her spirits and with his own song written specifically for Kylie a duet was on the cards. A murder ballad, a dark mysterious song which saw Kylie's character killed by the end, ''Where The Wild Roses Grow'' was about to shake every kylie fan and even the ''cool'' people could not believe the power and the emotion from these two Aussie's. It peaked at No.11 in the UK, went top 5 in Australia and went top 10 all over Europe, the video was so popular on MTV that it made their top 5 European countdown chart.During this period Kylie also attended the poetry olympics held at the Royal Albert Hall, London and Nick managed to get Kylie to read ''I Should Be So Lucky'' in poem format.Kylie always remember's this period with fondness because it was with this new confidence that she credited herself with the influence and also the past which at least gave kylie some calm and room to explore a new album direction.Kyli enever stopped working with long time partner Steve Anderson throughout the mid 1995/6, they were working eithe rin the studio or attending chairty gala's just to keep people known Kylie was still here. It was her gay fans that got to see her mostly and its a relationship which carries through to today. It was also during this period that William Baker(Kylie's current creative Director and Stylist) managed to meet Kylie and have a coffee. They shared idea's and a friendship was born, but most importantly a working relationship which has developed into the 2000 awad winning ''On A Night like This'' tour.Kylie's duet with Nick cave gave her a 23rd UK top 20 single, of which 4 were No.1's and a further 11 were top 5 smashes.

A surburban Aussie, a neighbour by any other definition is a Gay icon world wide.Gay culture world-wide are a kin to knowing her lyrics and the 3 minute bursts of pop, from Soho to Sydney, Paris to New York.At just 5ft1'' Kylie is positively delicate and angellic in her prescence, alittle sister amongst her gay family. Kylie's fashion knowledge and her apparent gift to be dressed in the right thing at the right time combined with her doll like size, makes her the perfect puppet for a gay man's bedroom. In the seeking of creative and musical freedom the social struggle fought by Kylie was close and resembled a gay man's fight to admit the issues surrounding sexuality and in her three minute bursts, Kylie helped somewhat to make everything seem okay.If the titles of the songs were illustrations of a gay lyric then we need look no further than ''Better The Devil You Know'', What Do I Have To Do'' and ''Confide In Me''. Kylie's close relationship with her fans and her overwhelming support towards them travelled hand in hand, all in a time when the pink pound was nothing more than hear'say. In the straight world Kylie was neglected and cast aside, chastised and mocked so rightfully just that the gay men planted her within their world and gave the chance to bloom once more. There may not be alot of tragedy to her life as with former gay icon's but the unique aspect to Kylie is the angellic nature and complete lady like qualities that shine through.Lyrics from ''Cowboy Style''..''Found my voicve to have my say, you take me close to far away, and now i find and now i feel, the ordinary is surreal, peace and terror all in one, my future life has just begun''.Kylie appeard in early 1997 as a cameo in an independant film ''Diana and Me'' the story revolved around one fan's fondness towards Princess Diana, ironically and sadly Diana was tragically later that year to be killed in Paris, and cause more problems for Kylie than could be imagined. A delay on her second album release with Deconstruction was prompted and the l title of ''Impossibe Princess was deemed innapropriate and was change to ''Kylie Minogue (1997)''
With all the fresh material from the two Deconstruction albums kylie had neglected to tour for nearly 8 years and her fans were eager to see the new tour scheduled for the summer of 1998, ''Intimate and Live''. In total Kylie played main venues in the UK before heading home to a sellout 7 minute crowd. It was the first chance Kylie had at creating a tour from scratch. WIth the death of ex Michael Hutchence a few months earlier it was just the tonic to re-produce the excitement that the fans knew she possessed. The whole period is best contrasted with the lyrics to the opening album and tour track lyrics. ''Too Far'': Caught up in this house, trapped my own self in the snare of my mind, no more space than a slither, what I'd give for a deep breath inside where the chaos has me captive, where theres no exit signs, to fuel this stupuid fire with these feelings of mine.'' Her homecoming was full of credibility and the reviews were sensational. Kylie was back with her fans, it had been too long. After the tour finished in Sydney Kylie decided on compiling a book of photographics images with some comments from fellow stars including Bono, Boy George and Julie Burchill. The Book promo titled ''evidence'' was ''a valid way at looking at my career'' says Kylie. I attended the signing at Selfridges in November 1999 and came face to face for the first time with the lady of pop. After the book signing took Kylie back to Sydney in December an invite from the government for Kylie to play for the Australian troops fighting in Eastimor. In December Kylie aong with John Farnham flew to war ridden East Timor on a trip of goodwill. It was during this sometimes camp show that Kylie decided to sign with Parlophone records in the UK and sit down and work ona disco album.
And so a deal was done with Parlophone and EMI, Kylie stayed with Mushroom Records Australia (since 1987). The direction and the influence would be disco and dance. Kylie continued to write and input on the album and she also worked with long time writer friend Steve Anderson. Her most publicised work though was with Robbie Williams who had the duet ''Kids'' which reached No.2 with the camp anthem ''Your Disco Needs You'' and ''Loveboat'' included. It was though ''Spinning Around'' which debuted at No.1 in Australia and the UK which gave Kylie her 6th number one and a return to high sales as Light Years also entred the charts at No.1 (Aus. No.2 (Uk). It went on to sell well over 2 million and confirmed to all the critics the loosely named comeback queen was on top of the pop throne again.More press pages were granted to Kylie's gold hotpants that anything else, even though they are a well known piece of wardrobe for our little minx. Men weer drooling and MTV could not get enough of the videos. The album was also a great reason to launch a huge European and Australasian tour. ''On A Night Like This'' broke all records in Sydney and infact all records for any tour ever in Australia. No other act in history to date has played as many shows. The show also toured the UK and Europe and it was the first time for many to witness Kylie live, since 1991.Many of her newer and revisiting fans had not witnessed Intimate and Live so when they did attend, they were blown away. The tour won Kylie awards and also crtitical acclaim. It seems in a world where many artists mime to backing tracks, Kylie professional approach was now seen to be something to admire.
Light Years produced four top 10 UK singles in total and kept Kylie busy up until Spring 2001. The momentum was in full motion and the writing for her 8th Studio album had commenced nicknamed ''Coming of Age'', ''Fever'' was to be a journey through the early electronic period in the 80's. Kylie's early recollections of Grace Jones, Synthesiser fuelled disco. The tour was a great arena for her to showcase a new song ''Can't Get You Out Of My Head''. The reception was great but who knew that this song would launch kylie into the biggest stage of her career to date? I thought it sounded great and her vocals delivered perfectly but America, the country which rarely listen to anything foreign. a country where theres 17 lookalikes and soundalikes Britneys launched every day. Well itis about time that they got the opportunity to hear Kylie and I have a feling that in 2002 The whole world will be taken over by Miss Minogue. The strangeness to it all though does not make me happy for this. In a business sense it is wonderful, but in a selfish way aving Kylie for so long in a smaller world was quite superb. Kylie may now just become a prescence on my television screen, and after seeing her live many times it is a sad loss.
So as Kylie moved into 2001 with a successful tour and an album due for release in September there was just enough time to film her part in the third feature film by Australia's Baz Luhrman. His follow up to the smash hit Romeo+Juliet was the bohemian love story encased within the Moulin Rouge. Starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan Mcgregor, Kylie was cast as the green fairy. At first Luhrmann had used an animation but once it was deemed not good enough he thought that only Kylie could be the fairy. They organised time off and she rushed to Australia to film her section, including the operatic version of ''The Sound Of Music''. The absinthe fairy is actually a real logo and there is a history behind the fairy which delves deeper into the Moulin Rouge. The film has already received Golden Globesland Nicole Kidman an oscar nomination. A successful return to the big screen for Kylie...Maybe there a future Baz script that will fall Kylie's way...we can but hope.

Adam Garcia(Coyote Ugly,Saturday Night Fever) was a special guest in this Saturday night extravanganza.Kylie had been given her own hour long show to entertain and present songs from the new album ''Fever''. ''Can't Get You Out Of My Head'' was dominating every chart in the world, and spending it's 12th week on top of the Worldpop global chart, it was more of a celebration.Very few artists get given there own primetime show and the press were reporting that Madonn'a had said her kids were in love with the new song.It seems in 2001 no-one could get Kylie out of their heads. A performance at the MTV Europe Music Awards left crowds in Berlin breathless and subsequent awards were won at the Top Of The Pop awards in Manchester and4 nominations for 2002 Brit Awards. The song has topped charts all over the world and ''Fever'' has already sold in excess of 3 million copies worldwide after just 3 months of sales. The Kylie star has never shone so brightly. On a more personal level Kylie has suffered from emotional exhaustion this year due to the punishing workloads and promotional schedules and her dad was also diagnosed with Cancer, which it seems he has beaten as I write this. So as 2001 comes to a close and the news that ''Can't Get You Out Of My Head'' is No.1on the USA dance charts with a full American release of ''Fever '' due in February, it's is time that the world took note of the first lady of pop music in the 21st century...step forward Miss Kylie Minogue...May your reign continue....

Kylie Minogue receives the award of Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her tremendous contribution to the world of music.
